The psalmist beautifully declares, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it” (Psalm 24:1). Yet, throughout history, God’s people have often forgotten this fundamental truth, turning away from their Creator and neglecting their role as stewards.

We see this pattern of disobedience in the story of the Israelites, God’s chosen people. They were given the Promised Land as an inheritance, but they repeatedly disobeyed God’s commands, worshipping idols and exploiting the land’s resources for their own gain. The prophet Jeremiah lamented, “They have become faithless to the Lord, bearing false children” (Jeremiah 3:20). Their actions had severe consequences, leading to devastation and exile.

Today, we face similar challenges. Our world is plagued by environmental degradation, social injustice, and spiritual apathy. Yet, God’s call to repentance remains. As the apostle Paul wrote, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20). As ambassadors, we’re called to represent God’s love, justice, and stewardship in a world that desperately needs it.

So, how can we live as stewards of God’s creation? Firstly, we must recognize God’s sovereignty over all things. The psalmist reminds us, “For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods… The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land” (Psalm 95:3-5). This understanding should lead us to care for creation, practice justice, and live with humility. We must protect and preserve the natural world, recognizing its inherent value and beauty (Genesis 2:15). We must advocate for the marginalized, vulnerable, and oppressed, reflecting God’s heart for justice (Micah 6:8). And we must recognize our dependence on God and our role as stewards, rather than owners (Psalm 24:1).

However, those who disobey God’s Word will face consequences. In Revelation 11:18, it’s written, “The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who reverence your name.” God’s judgment awaits those who neglect their role as stewards, exploiting creation and disregarding His commands.

But there’s hope! If you’re ready to follow Jesus and live as a steward of God’s creation, we invite you to repent, believe, and follow. Repentance means turning away from sin and towards God (1 John 1:9). Believing means trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior (John 3:16). Following means living according to God’s Word, prioritizing stewardship, justice, and humility (Matthew 28:19-20).

In conclusion, i want to remind us that “The earth is indeed the Lord’s”, and we’re called to be its caretakers. Let’s heed God’s call to repentance, live as ambassadors of Christ, and prioritize stewardship, justice, and humility. May we faithfully represent God’s love and redemption in a world that needs it. If you’re ready to follow Jesus, we encourage you to take the first step today.

AMEN 🙏🙏
